This tutorial will show you how to install Cubecart. The first think you need to do is download the latest version from www.cubecart.com. Unzip or untar the files being sure to maintain directory
hierarchy. Upload the entire set of files to your site. In our FTP client, we have it set to Auto-Detect mode. If yours is set to manual, be sure to upload all PHP files in ASCII mode not Binary mode. In this example, we will install the store in a directory called
shop. Upload all files. You will need to set the following files' and folders' permissions to writable (CHMOD 777):
images/uploads/, images/uploads/thumbs/,
includes/global.inc.php, pear/tmp/. Let's see how that's done. Repeat this process for the other files and folders in the list. When you're done, you can point your browser to the store to run the installation wizard. In this example, it will be www.yoursite.com/shop/. Click to indicate that you have read and agreed to the
license agreement. This wizard will check to ensure that you have properly set the required writable file permissions. Click to proceed to the next step. Prior to running this installation, you will need to have created a MySQL database in your domain account. Enter those values here. Select a country location for your store. Create an Admin user. Make the password 6-8 alpha-numeric characters and it should not contain the username. Select a skin for your store. Don't worry, you can always change this later if you wish. Unless you have a specific reason to edit these settings, leave them as they are. At this point you will receive an error indicating that you will now need to set the permissions for the
global.inc.php file back to 644. Go ahead and do that and return here to proceed. Click to proceed to the final step. Congratulations! You have successfully installed Cubecart. Make a note of these URLs to view and manage your new store.
Important: Your store will not function properly until you delete the install directory on the site. This concludes the tutorial for installing Cubecart.
