This tutorial will show you how to use File Manager in
cPanel. You may prefer to manage your site files using your favorite FTP program such as
CuteFTP or
WS_FTP. Alternatively you can manage them using File manager. Your site files will be in the
public_html directory. Let's go ahead and see how to create a new folder (directory). Clicking the actual name (vs the folder icon) will display properties and option for the file or folder. As you can see, you can perform a few tasks relative to the file or folder selected. Let's take a look now at how to upload a file. We'll upload one now to the cgi-bin. Browse your hard drive for the file you wish to upload. If the file already exists on the server and you wish to replace it with an updated version, click to overwrite existing files. As you can see, the file was successfully uploaded. File Manager displays the file permissions for all files and folders. Some may need a specific permission to function properly. Let's see how that's done. Typically, .cgi (and .pl) files require permission setting 755. Refer to your script documentation for more details. You can enter the numbers manually, or check off the permissions yourself. That's it! You are now able to manage your files using File Manager in
cPanel.
